Well. There are only two more Mr. Robot and Veronica SWEARS it gets even trippier than last episode, I just have no idea how. Allllls the spoilers after the jump
What I really don’t understand is that the whole basis for Elliot hating Evil Corp is that his dad died after their toxic waste dumping and more than just him have talked about that. So. I’ve been wondering if Mr. Robot exists outside of Elliot’s head all this time, what if he’s just a ghost instead of imaginary? But. Mostly I’m pissed that the damngod narrator has been lying the whole time: it’s very Bobby Wakes Up, in my opinion. ANYWAY
We’re back in 1993; Mr. Robot answers the phone at the STORE Mr. Robot (he suggests the Pentium, lightning fast and has 800mb of memory, oooohhhh!) when a very angry customer walks in: he says Elliot stole his money and Dad just blows it off. But he did do it; Dad takes the money; he’s taking them to the movies! I don’t know if Pulp Fiction is the BEST choice for a young kiddo, tho. Lots of portentous coughing.
Elliot asks why he isn’t in trouble, Dad explains it thusly: “Even though what you did was wrong, you’re still a good kid. And that guy was a prick. Sometimes that matters more”. Sure!
In present time, Dad is smoking and looking exactly the same as he did in 1994. Elliot says jaysus fcuking christos and I think we’re all right there with you, pal. Elliot flips out and Dad says Elliot’s not well and that’s a bit of an understatement, isn’t it??
Elliot is distraught and shouty and finally Dad says will take him somewhere to explain
Gideon has the best boyfriend; he insists on serving him breakfast on the bed and listens carefully while Gideon explains how badly things are going for Allsafe and him personally. Hunky boyfriend literally spoonfeeds him while simultaneously cheerleading, that’s a great partner.
Angela goes to her lawyer’s office to find a perky Nayar disappointed with her life choices: you can’t work here, Angela! Take a jewelry class! Darlene calls her; Elliot isn’t at work and she needs help finding him. Angela has gone to their usual runaway place; he’s not there. Her and Darlene have a fight and all I got out of it is that Elliot was fine until Darlene moved back to the city.
Elliot and his dad are reminiscing about their trips to the city on the LRT, I’m holding my breath the whole time to see if Dad pushes him onto the tracks. I STILL don’t understand how Elliot had such a nightmare of a mother; disguy married that psychopath? Pffshht.
Dad says Elliot can’t see Darlene right now and as Elliot talks to us in his head I am not having it. I don’t trust you, Elliot, whatever. He says he’s remembering more and more.
Tyrell and Joanna are enjoying their wee bundle of joy in the hospital; I am so worried for that fictional bebeh. Joanna talks about the first baby she had, at 15, whom she gave up for adoption . She says she can’t forgive herself and now I understand the ball gag and restraints. She tells him she no longer wants him, and if he wants to stay a part of this family, he will fix this.
The CD shop where Elliot met White Rose has been firebombed; everything is gone.
Tyrell charges into his office to find Bigger Cheese messing aboot; the police have told him that Tyrell is a person of interest and Scott has told Bigger Cheese about the advances on Sharon…and Tyrell is out and Scott is in. Bigger Cheese is a sadist and I find myself hoping Tyrell snaps with a deep and abiding violence.
Elliot and his dad are back at his childhood home; he pushes his dad out the window and WHUT??? Right, Elliot is just dealing with his guilt for sharing his dad’s secret lo those many years ago, you know, when his DAD DIED and all.
Sigh
Angela is listening to speed metal and researching Terry Colby further as her dad mentions that Darlene has been kicking around. She goes to Elliot’s old house to find that Darlene has broken in again, they make up and are besties again
Gideon has figured out that his honeypot is no longer sticky and is doing whatever he can to fix it, but Tyrell has left orders that things stay as they are.
Elliot’s dad has recovered from his fall out the window; and now they’re at a graveyard because of course they are. Dad says he will never leave him alone again and crumples into a ball…on his own grave stone. Edward, I shall call him that instead of Dad. Elliot is bleeding because of course, he pushed himself out a window earlier, little limpy and all. He was Mr. Robot all along, and THAT we did know.
Later, Angela says she envies him, she wishes she could talk to her mom again and they have a decent hug. He’s headed back to the city with Darlene; she needs to know what and how much he remembers, like when they first started fsociety. Sure.
Gideon is at Tyrell’s office and is just realising how well and truly fcuked in the honeypot he is. Tyrell has been let go, so he can’t restore the it and Scott is unavailable because of course, his wife was just murdered, which leaves?
Angela returns home to find Terry Colby and a bunch of lawyers staked out at her house having some tea with her dad. He says he admires her; she plays a great short game and got what she wanted. She just wanted the wrong things. He thinks her brains and determination would do well at Evil Corp. You know, the company she’s currently suing. I know this is business and a story but my gut still clenches when he says that Evil Corp started a Rainy Day Fund back when they decided to spill all that waste and it’s already made 5 times the 100 million they expect to have to pay out at the end of the projected 7 year long class action suit. She refuses the job repeatedly; he suggest she try to effect change from the inside, which is what all selling out looks like. She has until tomorrow.
Darlene is momming Elliot; who wants to call off the hack. She says the reasons they wanted to do the hack in the first place are all real, you know, just not everything else. She takes Flipper out for a walk to refill his medications and in sneaks Tyrell. He knows Elliot is the root of this particular evil and he wants to know what’s going on. He’s going to beat it out of him; on snaps the rubber gloves. Tyrell doesn’t have anything to lose now; it’s all gone and all that is left is this beautiful matrix of Elliot’s that he glimpsed. He tells Elliot about Sharon’s murder and Elliot takes him to the arcade?? WHUT?? Tyrell is the enemy!!
Elliot tells him everything, save for the fact that there are several other people involved, you know, IF THERE ARE. The popcorn pops as Elliot says he wanted to save the world and hey! There’s a gun in there! Get THAT!
Deuces, ScriptKiddies, one more to blow.
